Description
Dog Breed: Chesapeake Bay Retriever / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). CHEYENNE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OUTSIDE A 30 MINUTE RADIUS OF DES MOINES. Cheyenne is an approximate 14-week-old (born 05-28-26), 30 lb., female, possible Chesapeake Bay/Lab mix puppy. She came from Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago after having been found as a stray. Cheyenne will be a large dog when she is full grown and could reach 85 lbs. She is still working on kennel training and house training but is doing well with both. Cheyenne is a very friendly girl that loves people and does well with kids, however she can be a bit shy at times and may need a slow approach when first meeting new people to get comfortable. Due to her time being a stray, she can startle easily at times and become overwhelmed so her new family will need to continue to let Cheyenne have the freedom to go at her own pace as she navigates her new life. She is being fostered with two large dogs and is doing well but is still working on the boundaries and social cues all puppies need to when meeting other dogs. Cheyenne needs a home with a fenced yard, another large dog that is compatible with her energy that can teach her how to navigate all the new things the world has to offer, and an active family that can continue her socialization and training. Cheyenne loves the water and is not afraid to jump in the deep end of the pool and fetches like a champ! She is very energetic and is always on the go! Once she has had enough mental stimulation and exercise, she is a calm, snuggly girl willing to chill in your lap for hours. We are looking for a very active family that is willing and able to spend a lot of time outdoors with Cheyenne to meet her needs for adventure, growth, and exercise. The beautiful girl has a lot of potential even though she had a rough start by being abandoned so young. Siblings: Brooklyn (F) Cheyenne (F) If you are interested in meeting Cheyenne, please complete an online application at hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie/forms/196/dog-application Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chesador, a captivating blend of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever and the Labrador Retriever, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its excellent qualities. Originating from the desire to combine the robust retrieving abilities of both parents, these dogs typically inherit a medium to large build, with a dense, water-repellent coat that can range in color from chocolate to black, yellow, or even a reddish hue, often with the wavy texture of the Chessie. Their temperament is generally described as intelligent, loyal, and energetic, making them highly trainable and eager to please. While their energetic nature means they thrive in homes with a yard and active families, their desire to be with their people can make them adaptable to larger apartments if provided with ample exercise. Potential owners should be aware of common health concerns for their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and bloat, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups essential for a healthy companion.
