He is a medium energy pup who loves wrestling and running with his foster siblings, exploring the yard, playing with toys, and capping it all off with some couch time with his people. He is looking for a patient family ready to give him the time and confidence to keep on blossoming. Jonsey does best with slow, calm introductions to new dogs and will warm up beautifully once he feels comfortable. He absolutely loved the cat in his southern foster home and would do great with a dog-savvy feline sibling. His sweet and affectionate nature suggests he would likely do well with kids too, with patient introductions and a calm environment. Jonsey is a smart boy who already knows sit and loves his daily walks and yard playtime. He is fully crate trained and settles in beautifully on a consistent schedule throughout the day and overnight. He is fully house trained on a regular routine of meals, potty breaks, exercise, and rest. He walks well on leash and may bark at dogs he passes, but does not lunge or pull and continues to build his confidence with each outing. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
