He is a medium energy guy who loves a good leash walk, running the fields, playing with his foster siblings, and then spending the rest of the day happily lounging around with his people. He would be a wonderful fit for just about any home looking for a devoted, easygoing companion. Haywood loves his foster siblings and gets along beautifully with other dogs, making him a great fit with or without a canine companion. He completely ignores the barn cats in his foster home and would do well with a dog-savvy feline sibling. He has done well with dog-savvy kids and would do best with children who can give him a little space and time to warm up on his own terms. Haywood is a smart, eager to please boy who is fully crate trained and settles in throughout the day and overnight without any issues. He is fully house trained on a consistent daily routine. He absolutely loves his leash walks and is a joy to take out. This handsome, big-hearted boy is looking for someone ready to give him the love and forever family he deserves. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
