Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Schnauzer / Mixed. Meet Posey! Posey is a 1-year-old Schnauzer mix who made her way to us all the way from Georgia. This sweet girl is happiest when she’s curled up in your lap or patiently waiting at your feet for a little love and attention. She truly adores being close to her people. Posey loves people and her stuffy toys, and she’s looking for a home with a secure fenced-in area where she can explore safely and build confidence. She can be a bit shy sometimes but with time, patience, and a loving home, we believe she will blossom into a one-in-a-million companion. Posey is good with kids and would do well in a home where they can be gentle and kind while she settles in and feels safe. Posey tested light positive for Lyme disease. She is currently on antibiotics and will need a follow-up recheck with your veterinarian. Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness that can cause symptoms like joint pain, fever, or lethargy, though many dogs respond very well to treatment and go on to live completely normal, happy lives. With proper care and routine vet follow-up, Posey is expected to do great. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a little time to grow, Posey might be your perfect match. Posey's adoption fee is $200, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
