Name: Blair Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year old as of Sept 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 9.4 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Shelter - looking for foster or adopter!! Blair is Looking For: Her forever home! Blair is a pint-sized cutie searching for her forever family and the perfect lap to call her own! This sweet little girl would love a family who will shower her with affection, invite her along for plenty of sniff-filled walks, and make time for playdates and daily fun. Still young and curious, Blair is ready to explore the world with her new people by her side. Whether she’s trotting through the neighborhood, playing with her favorite toys, or curling up for a cozy snuggle session, she’ll be happiest sharing it all with a loving family. Blair is looking for a home that will give her plenty of playtime, enrichment, companionship, and all the cuddles her little heart desires. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
