Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A SUPER SWEET GUY: Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 31 lbs. Hi, I'm Butters! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am enjoying my time with the nice volunteers, who spend time with and take great care of me—they are so much fun to hang out with! Now I hear that I'm ready to find a wonderful family of my very own, where I can love and be loved furever! I hope to meet them very soon and charm them with my wonderful personality! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and did well with the female but not the male, so if you have a nice female dog at home already, let's meet. / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let's meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I'm a friendly, fun, happy boy who is as sweet as can be! I'm playful, inquisitive, and full of tail wags, and the volunteers say I'm one of the happiest boys around. I was so good for my bath and even rolled around on my towel afterward to help dry myself off—why wait when you can do it yourself? I'm a very sweet, playful guy with lots of personality and love to share! / Energy level: 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'come', 'leave it', and 'place' commands. I also know how to accept friendly strangers without jumping on them. I'm working on my leash manners now. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / I'm doing pretty well in my crate at Mostly Mutts, though sometimes I come out quickly as I'm ready to spend time with and have fun with the volunteers. / I'm having just a few accidents on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love toys and treats, and I enjoy doing lots of fun things with the nice volunteers! Going for walks is another favorite thing, and afterwards, I'm happy to slow down and cuddle with my person on the bench out front. I'm sure we'll discover lots more things we like doing together once I'm in my new home! / I can't think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I'm a wonderful guy looking for a wonderful family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
