Description
Dog Breed: Border Collie / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Meet Chai! ☕ This adorable 7–9-month-old, 40-pound Australian Cattle Dog/Pointer mix is equal parts goofy, energetic, and professional belly-rub enthusiast. Chai can be a little shy with new people and needs time and patience to feel comfortable, but once she trusts you, her sweet personality comes shining through. She loves toys, chewing, tug-of-war, and hanging out on the couch—especially if belly rubs are involved. She’s also very treat-motivated and knows “sit,” making her a fun pup to train. Chai is house- and crate-trained, rides well in the car, and generally has good manners, although she may occasionally counter-surf or steal a piece of dirty laundry. She’s still working on her leash skills and is currently pretty nervous about leashes, so her adopter will need to patiently help her build confidence. She gets along great with other dogs and would love a confident, playful canine sibling to show her the ropes. She can get a little excited around cats and may chase them, so dog-savvy cats would be best. Because Chai can be mouthy and likes to jump when excited, she’d do best with older children. And then there’s Chai’s special talent: sirens are her cue to join the choir. She happily howls along like she’s answering a very important call from the neighborhood pack. She also has a hilarious habit of stealing tennis balls right out of other dogs’ mouths. Chai would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, a confident dog sibling, and people who understand that shy dogs need time to find their confidence. She’s a high-energy puppy who is ready for walks, training, playtime, and plenty of couch cuddles afterward. If you’re looking for a goofy, sweet girl with a big personality and an even bigger howl, Chai might just be your cup of tea. ❤️ Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Breed overview
Overview:
The Borador, a delightful cross between the intelligent Border Collie and the friendly Labrador Retriever, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity. Originating from the desire to blend the best traits of both parents, Boradors typically inherit a medium build, often with the Labrador's strong frame and the Collie's agile grace. Their coat can vary widely in color and texture, from short and dense to medium-length and feathery, usually requiring moderate grooming. Temperamentally, they are known for being loyal, energetic, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive in environments where they receive plenty of physical and mental stimulation, making them less suitable for small apartment living unless daily exercise is guaranteed. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia or certain eye conditions, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding practices.
