Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Roo is approximately 8 weeks and is expected to be a medium sized dog when fully grown (mom was around 50 lbs). Roo was born to a street dog mom and is learning to trust people. She is very snuggly and loves stuffed toys. She is working on potty and crate training. As of now, Roo will not do well in an apartment setting as she makes it very known that she does not like her crate by barking non stop during the day (she does sleep quietly through the night though). She does better when crated next to another dog. Like all puppies, Roo will benefit from ongoing, structured training. Roo’s adoption fee is $300.00 which includes 3 rounds of shots, spay, microchip and 1 month of heartworm preventative. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
