Dog Breed: Great Dane (short coat). Elton is growing by the day! He weighs about 45 pounds at 4 months. Elton was a owner surrender due to divorce and lack of time for a puppy. Elton was pretty clingy when he arrived at his foster home. He’s getting better about venturing off to play, eating on his own, and realizing he doesn’t have to keep his foster Mom in sight every second of the day. His true puppy personality is definitely starting to come out more and more cute, wild, goofy, mischievous and ALL puppy. We are working on jumping, he’s a jumping bean. We love seeing him gain a little more confidence every day. They can be weary of strangers and protective. Big dogs equal big vet bills. Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. We only adopt in the New England area. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place. If all are in agreement an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid. Adoption fees for dogs are $500. for adults over 12 months, $600 for puppies 12 months and younger as well as small breed dogs. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate. Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. We show animals by appointment only.
