Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). ***Rolo is currently located at our rescue in Georgia but also available for adoption in the New Jersey area. He will be transported to New Jersey and available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes if not adopted prior to Sept 25. An application for Rolo's adoption should be submitted at socorescue (no need to register or login). Questions about Rolo and/or our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8gmail; please do not call the Rescue's number.*** Rolo and his brother, Ryker, were transferred to SoCo from an independent rescuer. That person had taken in the brothers and their sister after they were found to be in very bad health. Unfortunately, the sister didn't survive, but thanks to the efforts of the other rescuer, the two brothers, who are almost identical twins, made a miraculous recovery and are now very healthy, happy and full of life Rolo is one very well socialized pup. He instantly makes friends with anyone and everyone he meets, be that humans or other dogs. He's very playful and a bit mischievous, typical of the Lab breed, and will make an excellent addition into any home seeking a very active pup. The only difference between Rolo and his brother is that Rlo is slightly bigger than Ryker. Prior to his adoption, Rolo will have received 2 of his 3 first year "puppy" vaccinations, been de-wormed on multiple occasions and started on his flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. His adopter must agree to having Rolo neutered once he reaches 6 months old and provide verification of such to our rescue. Rolo will require all of his basic training.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
