Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hershey is a 10-week-old, 12-pound 31 Flavors mix with an adorable personality to match his name! His mom is a 32-pound mix and dad is unknown, so he is expected to be medium-sized when fully grown. Hershey is a sweet, cuddly little guy who loves being close to his people. He enjoys playing and exploring, but he isn’t overly nippy or rough like some puppies can be. He does think socks make excellent toys, though, so keeping laundry picked up will be a must! Like any young puppy, Hershey is still working on his house and crate training and will need continued patience, structure, and guidance as he learns. He’s a fun, affectionate puppy who would love a family ready for all the joys—and work—that come with raising a puppy. Hershey is not currently fostered with cats, but at his young age, he could potentially be taught how to live with them. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 9/22. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
