Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Nougat! This adorable 5-½ month old, 14-pound mixed terrier puppy was perfectly named because he is just as sweet as a piece of nougat candy! Nougat (Nougie for short) is quite the handsome boy with his soft, silky fur and adorable ears. After being rescued from a hoarding situation, Nougat is now ready to find his forever person! Like most puppies, Nougat is a curious little guy and loves being outside on his lead chasing leaves and exploring hidden treasures in the grass like moths and anything that jumps. He jumps right back and then will quietly sit and watch the neighborhood walkers and runners without losing his mind! Nougat is on his way to being fully house-trained and with regular, consistent potty breaks will rarely have accidents in the house. While he talks back a bit when he’s first crated, he calms himself, and sleeps through the night in his crate. Nougat loves stuffies, frozen Kongs and, of course, any and all chew toys! He is a quick learner and has already mastered “sit” when being leashed and unleashed. He walks nicely on leash with just an occasional twist, turn or jump! He is learning “heel and stay,” and small bits of cheese are definitely helping the process! Nougat loves belly rubs and curling up next to you or in your lap. Since he’s still a puppy, he will need frequent naps and potty breaks and, of course, training and play sessions. With someone who is committed to continuing to teach, nurture and love him, he will make a sweet and loving addition to your home. Since he is only 5-½ months old, Nougat would do best with older, respectful children. Nougat loves stuffies, frozen Kongs and, of course, any and all chew toys! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
