    Breed: Shiba Inu

Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Okaeri (FKA Fancy) is a 6-7 year old gorgeous Shiba Inu who has a tough history. Our shelter received calls about seeing a dog in the woods for over a year. Each time we went to look we saw nothing. We did finally spot her lounging by the Rariran River, but we couldn't even get within 100 yards before she bolted. We kept setting dog traps in different locations but never had any luck. Finally, a resident kept seeing her in their yard. They allowed us to set the trap there. After several days, she went in! Through her microchip, we were able to contact her family who told us she had been missing for almost two years! They couldn't believe she was alive. They had adopted her and only had her for a year. She had run away multiple times, but they always found her, until that last time. This sweet, quiet dog had been fending for herself in the woods the entire time. The family decided they could not give her the kind of home she needed, so they allowed us to keep her and give her the help she needed. We took her immediately to Somerset Vet Group for a thorough exam. While she had a minor injury and some tick born diseases, overall she was physically ok. Her emotional state was not as good. She was fearful and painfully shy. No wonder given the two years she spent alone. We were able to find an amazing foster home for her with a professional trainer who also has Shiba Inu experience. During her months in foster care, she has started to regain a fun and playful side. She absolutely loves to be around other dogs, and will do best in an dog saavy, experienced home with other dogs. Okaeri is still a flight risk, so a secure fenced in yard is a must. If you would like to learn more about Okaeri, stop by the shelter or give us a call. She is an amazing dog who deserves a new beginning!

I’m so chill (and hip for using that word!), laid back, and easy going. I’m just a sweet non-confrontational gal. Not that I wouldn’t defend myself, mind you, but I don’t look for trouble. I am still a bit wary of humans, but overall I’m friendly. I have a playful side. I’ll try to tinker with the solar water fountain floating in the pond in my backyard. I even frolic with cat toys! I’ve even been known to pounce on a Nyla bone. I sure do love all store bought treats, but don’t try produce like apples or carrots on me. I am potty trained. Did I mention that I love my fenced in yard? I do and will need one of those in my furever home. I do walk on a leash occasionally but not every day. I am learning commands for ‘kennel’ and ‘outside’. So, I’ve hung with smaller dogs but not bigger ones so not sure what to make of them yet. I pretty much ignore other dogs (cats too), so I do not take any cues from them either. I’m fairly quiet; I rarely bark. Oh, I did bark to warn a dog off my chow once and I will howl in the car or in the kennel. I guess I’ve made some occasional yelps. Still like I said before, I’m chill. I’ve been told that I have potential. That sounds promising. I’m confident that I’ll find my perfect furever home too! Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu / Chihuahua (short coat). Elsa is a sweet little one year old Shiba Inu mix looking for a new home. Elsa's owners took her door to door asking people to take her. They thought they could keep her in their apartment without the landlord finding out, but that didn't last very long. Any horrible person could have taken Elsa, but fortunately, one of our volunteers heard about her situation and quickly scooped her up! Elsa is a little shy especially when meeting new people, but who can blame her. Once she gets to know you, she quickly warms up. Elsa loves to cuddle, is dog friendly and house trained. Elsa needs a kind person who will give her the time to blossom into the wonderful dog she was meant to be! She just needs to feel safe again! Elsa doesn't have any destructive habits like chewing, barking or digging, and she walks nicely on a leash. Elsa is very devoted and will follow you from room to room, but isn't clingy. Elsa was previously living with children. We had Elsa spayed, fully vaccinated including rabies and microchipped. We're only adopting out to the Southern California area. Adoption donation $250

    Breed: Shiba Inu
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Please contact Masako (saveshibasgmail) for more information about this pet. Beautiful Senior Shiba Looking for a Home! Jasper is a sweet senior Shiba Inu. He gets along with older children and all people. He is 10 years old and weighs 36 lbs. He is microchipped, neutered, and current on vaccines. He is house-trained and knows basic commands. He was an owner surrender due to allergies and old age. He is dog aggressive and would be best in a home without any other dogs. Unknown about cats. Not recommended for homes with other small animals or young children. If you are familiar with this breed, enjoy short walks and a companion nearby, you may be the perfect companion for this gorgeous boy! Jasper does suffer from chronic allergies and will need to be on a special (grain free, fish based diet). He may also need medications or treatments if there are any flare ups. (These medications could be an expense of $30-$60 a month, however we hope to be able to resolve issues holistically). The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered. If you can provide our fostered Shiba a loving forever home, please complete an application: .savingshibasinc/Adopt **All Saving Shibas Inc dogs must be adopted by families willing to have their pets be a part of their family and must be allowed inside—especially at night. No dog is allowed to be put on a “tie-out” or chain outside and should be walked on a leash when not in a fenced yard. **All Saving Shibas Inc dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations prior to adoption. **Available pets maybe visited via appointment with foster. Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (short coat). Meet Lady! She is one of our mill dogs we pulled back in January and now that she has completed her heartworm treatment, is FINALLY ready for her forever home! She is a sweet mellow mannered girl a little on the small side just under 20lbs. She wants to be loved and will walk up to your hand for a gentle pet. Her likes are soft couches, any ball she doesn’t have to share and a good antler to chew on occasion. Ideal evening would be to Netflix and chill on a couch while you order take out. She is a little older so she doesn’t have all the spunk and destructive habits as a two year old, but she will pounce with happiness when she sees you fill her bowl of kibble in the morning. She walks well on a leash, is not possessive of food or toys although she will try to hide them and has seemingly unending patience for my younger dog and gives her warnings when she is too rambunctious. Not necessarily a dog park dog - other dogs that are too eager frighten her though she will assuredly let both of you know. She will require a home that is strict about no people food and keeping to a fairly strict routine so she continues her progress on house training. She is still gaining some forgotten strength in her legs, but loves going on hikes outside. Dogs: Yes Cats: yes Children: older children okay young children would be okay, but not ideal for her to adjust quickly Small rodents or birds: no
