Description:
We raise hair sheep, tended by our maremma guardian dogs. My approach to dog rearing is to keep pups with mother and sheep for as much time as possible, not lead pups into mistakes, and in general, provide a calm example to them. I ultimately rely on their mother, Wendy, to show them how sheep guarding is done. Wendy's first two litters have produced 3 pets and 7 guardians. All of the latter are working on sheep farms in my area. The current litter will have the best setting so far for bonding with the ewes and learning their place, as the bulk of lambing season will occur in May. We are going to take one male aside and raise him with chickens.
