Posted Breed: Pomeranian (long coat). Please contact Erica (ekilgo@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Charlie is now accepting applications for his forever home! You could be the lucky person who gets to have Charlie in your life! Charlie is about 4 years old. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is doing very well at potty training and will just need a little reinforcement in a new home. He taught himself to use the dog door, so if you have one, he is all over it. Charlie is very loving and would do best with a person who could be with him most of the time. He is good with other dogs, large and small, and cats. He would appreciate a playful dog near his size, but doesn't have to have a canine companion as long as he has a human one. Charlie loves walks and hikes and likes to ride in the car. He is a typical Pomeranian, who isn't shy about expressing himself verbally. He loooves food and chews and does a happy dance at meal time. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets @mountainpetrescueavl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.

More About Pomeranian Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Hey there, don't pass me up just because I'm called a Pit Bull Terrier. I'm one of the smartest dogs that you will ever meet. I've been attending obedience classes, and I'm a star pupil - just ask them and they will tell you. I walk great on a leash, I know my name, I will sit, I will follow you, and I'm working on lying down. I love riding in a vehicle, too! I'm fine with all adults and older children. I haven't been around little children much, so they kind of scare me. I'm fine with other dogs and like to play within reason. I also like to just chill out with a good bone to chew on. I'm not too fond of cats though. Well, ya know, we can't all be perfect. Go ahead, contact Cindy at tn911girl@comcast.net today to learn more about me. You just might fall in LoVe! xoxo All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Posted Breed: Border Collie / Mixed. Prince is a doll of a dog! He is a beautiful young guy and is still learning about the world. He is very interested in people of all kinds. He loves cuddling and leans in when you talk to him like he wants to share secrets with you. He weighs only 24 pounds, which he thinks is a perfect size for a lapdog. Prince is already about one year old, so it is not likely he will get much bigger. He is smart and wants to please. He is doing really well with crate training and leash training. Unfortunately, he is heart worm positive and will be receiving treatment soon. He can't wait to find his forever family! Don't you need a Prince in your life? Contact his foster mom today at fosterpetlove@gmail.com to learn more about this sweet Prince! He is a big flirt who just adores people, and he's pretty sure they adore him back. He's approximately 5 years old, although he sure acts like a goofy puppy during playtime. He is full size at only 30 lbs. He gets along well with other dogs. He is doing great with kennel training and house training. He does get very excited about leash walking, so we are working on his skills there. He's led an interesting life and would love to tell you all about it over a big bag of dog treats and toys. We met Elvis because he was sharing a kennel with Prince, another MPRAVL dog we rescued, and we just couldn't say no to his smile. Once you meet this happy boy, we are willing to bet you won't be able to say no either! C ontact us today at fosterpetlove@gmail.com to learn more about cute Elvis! Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This dog is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue. Please contact the owner at alysongrove@gmail.com or 502-819-2943 for more information. ZuZu is a precious girl! We are very sad to have to re-home her; however, she deserves a home that can give her more consistent training and an active lifestyle. This smart, goofy girl is a sweet snuggler that loves other dogs soooooooo much! ZuZu also would be good with an established mellow indoor cat! She has been cared for very well and is up to date on everything. ZuZu is house- and crate-trained, adores car rides and is micro-chipped. The ideal human for her would have a fenced-in yard, lots of strength, previous pit bull experience, and time to make her the center of their world. We are willing to fund $50 a month for a year for her care if it is an extremely loving and responsible home. She is also required to have fish-based dog food due to allergies. Must have a vet reference. She will make a great pet to the right family. Will gladly take assistance from rescues and fosters. Willing to transport. Don't you want to give this sweet girl the best life?

Since moving into a foster home, Mama Cass has become accustomed to the good life. She shares the house with 4 other dogs and gets along well with them. So well that Mama Cass and her foster sister Diamond snuggle and sit at the window seat watching all that goes on in the neighborhood. Mama Cass is learning how to be playful. She is house trained, uses the dog door when needed and sleeps through the night without any accidents. Her foster mom says, "This girl is the best snuggler ever. She just leans in during the night and keeps me warm. I love her so much!"
