Posted Breed: American Bulldog (medium coat). Contact foster at wboulayyahoo Macy is a sweet senior girl that was found as a stray on Thanksgiving day in a pretty rural area. While she wasn't in the best condition, she is overall a pretty healthy dog. She is house trained, and in the time we have had her here, she has never had an accident in the house. She will also let you know when she needs to go out. She is a quiet girl, who happily naps most of the day. She does really well in her crate, and doesn't make a peep while she is in there, unless she needs to go out. She enjoys going for walks, and is never in a rush. She does really well on leash, not pulling at all. To our surprise, she already knows sit, shake, and down, so she must have had a family at some point. I have not introduced her to our dogs yet, but she has been completely non-reactive when she has seen them through the baby gate. She loves to snuggle on the couch and just be near wherever the people are. While my dogs are out in the yard, she happily naps on the futon in my office while I work.

Overview:
Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.
