Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Valentine AND his speckled nose are still paws crossed for an application. He’s a 3 year old bully boy with a heart *almost as big as his block head. He absolutely adores people, people and people. Valentine does well in social settings, great car passenger and certified good boy for vet visits. He walks well on leash, eager to train + please and working hard on his manners. Valentine also loves a good bone to work on and a game of fetch — he will happily drop the ball for you to keep the game going! V is currently fostered with several dogs. He can be a bit forward and playful at first but believes everyone is a friend Valentine is not currently fostered with cats, but did meet a feline friend and did well. He could potentially live with a dog savvy* cat if an adopter was willing to go slow with appropriate separation and introductions. Due to Valentine’s size and energy, he would do best in a home with children 9+. Overview:
Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.
