Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). wagoninn.rescuegroups After being found as an injured stray in Louisiana, Harley was adopted as a puppy about 2 years ago to a family in Brooklyn. This caramel-colored cutie finds the city to be too overwhelming, and is looking for a new home. She startles easily and is triggered by wheels (shopping carts, rolling suitcases, bikes, scooters), and strangers, which is all difficult to avoid in the busy city! For this reason, Harley is looking for a home in suburbia. Since she gets overly excited around other animals,she must be an only pet. Her current owner has had great success working with a trainer, and Harley walks well on a leash and knows a few commands. She also loves to play fetch! Harley takes daily anxiety medication and an allergy pill. Harley can stay home by herself without a problem. She knows which toys are hers, and doesn't chew anything that isn't hers. Because Harley is unaware of her size and strength, when excited, she might knock into people, animals or furniture in the house. For this reason, we do not recommend her going to a home with young kids. Harley loves her people, including the 12-year old in the family and her friends. Harley is a smart and intuitive girl, and can sense when someone is scared, which makes her scared. She was fine being handled by strangers on first greeting, though she may submissively urinate on greeting (outdoor greetings are best!). She will settle and allow petting everywhere, and is okay with ears/mouth/paws being touched. She should be placed in a home with no other animals due to resource guarding that led to an attack on the resident cat. While she resource guards food with other animals, she has not exhibited any food aggression with humans. She would benefit from a large yard and/or an owner that is active and willing to continue training. Harley is a sweet, wonderful dog, who is 50% couch potato and 50% party animal. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on preventatives and vaccines. She is heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $400. How to Adopt Me!
