Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi, my name is DEBBIE - ID#A4195332. I am a spayed female, tan and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 7 months old, and I have been at the shelter on and off since January 4, 2019. History summary: Debbie was adopted in January, but was returned after one day. Adopters stated that Debbie snapped at their little girl (11 yrs). Debbie was put outside after that, and escaped. Adopter said that Debbie was housebroken, and seemed to like people. Debbie was then adopted in April, and returned after a month. Adopter said she cowers when approached, and attacks their dog. Did not do well when left alone, soiled in the house, and is fearful of children and strangers. But then the adopter stated she does like to cuddle. Conflicting statements. Notes from a volunteer who recently spent time with Debbie: “I love this awesome girl! Debbie enjoyed her bath and then decided to slide down the hill on her back after she was clean. She loved being in the grass and definitely loved the treats I had for her. She loves to give kisses and would love to be an only dog so that she can be her forever family’s main focus. I can’t understand why this sweet love is still here.” Debbie will be at risk of euthanasia based on her history, and the fact that she has been here so long. The shelters are approaching maximum capacity, and room must be made for more animals. Please consider this sweet girl for your next furry family member.
