Posted Breed: Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (short coat). Meet Missy!! She is a sweet, cuddly and loving Malinois/Shepherd mix. She’s potty trained, crate trained and is food motivated to learn new things. She’s also a very fast learner, she knows sit, lay down, come, up, and off. Her foster mom is working on stay, speak, outside, and bedtime. She’s shy at first around new people but once she knows you she warms up and is very cuddly and affectionate. Missy’s foster mom brings her to work and she gets along great with the other office dogs as well as her foster fur sibling. She would love having a doggy playmate in her future home. She enjoys tug of war, and could spend hours chewing on bones/chew toys. She loves car rides and does well in the car. She lets you know when a stranger is around (she’ll make a great guard dog) but once she gets to know you, all she wants to do is crawl in your lap and get all the pets. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
