Posted Breed: Basset Hound (medium coat). Do you like slow walks, watching the sun rise and a little whipped cream in your coffee? Are you willing to be patient with me and indulge my love of a good base of the tail rub? If so, you just might be the human I am looking for. I am a quiet, reserved older gentleman who didn’t have the best life before CBHR rescued me. I was abused, neglected and lived outdoors in a shack. I have spent the last year learning to trust humans, receiving love, attention, plenty of food and learning that living inside is where I was meant to be. It takes me a while to warm up to new people but once I trust you, we will get along just fine. I would do best in a home without children. It’s not that I don’t like them but they are noisy and move around a lot. Sudden movements and loud noises still make me nervous. I would do well in a home that has another gentle dog. I don’t like to be crated but am housetrained. My days are spent lounging on my orthopedic dog bed waiting for the next treat or for my next meal. My teeth are a little worn so I do prefer softer dog food. I also like a little squirt of whipped cream on my breakfast. When the can comes out, my ears perk up because that stuff is delicious! Don’t shy away from me just because I am a mature fellow. I still have lots of love to give! I know how lucky I am and will show you by using my superb manners – don’t jump on people or furniture, don’t chew your things, walk well on a leash and even when I play, I don’t get rowdy.
