| Character: | This hybrid is excellent with kids of all ages, and is gentle enough for interaction with even the youngest children in the family. Because of their friendly, gentle natures, Miniature Bernedoodles thrive as service and therapy dogs. Their loyalty, protectiveness, and affability make them an ideal partner for people with disabilities. While they may be friendly and gentle, the Mini Bernedoodle just might be too friendly and gentle to guard the house when you’re away. This crossbreed is not known to be noisy, and in fact, they bark infrequently. |
| Temperament: | Mini Bernedoodles tend to have similar temperaments to the standard Bernedoodle. Most Mini Bernedoodles tend to be calm and docile with enough energy to play or go hiking. Mini Bernedoodles are happy-go-lucky dogs that are well-fit for living in small apartments. They are smaller in size, have hypoallergenic coats, exceedingly friendly with humans and other animals, and low exercise needs. The Mini Bernedoodle loves to play fetch and go for walks, but won’t suffer from being inside for a day either. Their gentle temperaments make them a great addition to the family. Mini Bernedoodles make fantastic family pets. They are non-aggressive, highly intelligent, loving, playful, fun, sweet, and enduringly loyal. Mini Bernedoodles are eager to please and very social. Additionally, because of their low prey drive, Mini Bernedoodles tend to get along very well with other companion animals, like other dogs, cats and even rabbits. |
| Care: | Little to zero shedding equals a higher maintenance dog. The Miniature Bernedoodle is a relatively easy keeper in the grooming department compared with the Miniature Poodle. As with shedding, the level of grooming is determined by the dog’s genes: a dog with more Poodle will require more frequent grooming, and a dog with more Bernese will requires fewer trips to the dog salon. The curlier the coat the more they need groomed. Most Bernedoodles need to be brushed at least 2 times a week and need a cut or trim every 8-10 weeks. Remember that low maintenance grooming doesn’t equal no grooming at all. Even Mini Bernedoodles with a straight coat can experience matting, and occasional trimming and clipping may be necessary, so keep an eye on your dog’s coat and brush at least 2 times a week. | Training: | Mini Bernedoodles are eager to please and very smart which means they are incredibly easy to train. This dog will not need many training repetitions because of how swiftly he learns commands. In particular, Mini Bernedoodles make good agility dogs and the poodle in their bloodlines means that many learn to swim and love it. Some of our Mini Bernedoodles love water so much it is a challenge keeping them out of it. |
| Activity: | The Mini Bernedoodle is a moderately active dog who requires around 20 to 30 minutes of daily exercise. They adapt quickly to most hot and cold weather climates, making them an excellent all-weather dog selection. This crossbreed is excitable but will match their energy level to yours, so plan on snuggling on the couch together or playing fetch in the back yard. Mini Bernedoodles have enough energy to go on long hikes or jogging while being able to tone it down and be a complete couch potato. |
