Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Meet Maverick! This absolutely adorable Treeing Walker Coonhound is still a puppy at just 8 months old! He's just about up for anything you are. Long walks, playing with other dogs and people, car rides and of course napping. With his bouncy puppy walk and joyful expressions you can't help but smile when you look at him. Maverick has great house manners for such a young guy. Maverick is still learning his basic training commands and is coming along nicely. His new family will need to be committed to continuing training to ensure that his grows into the amazing boy we know he is. Friendly with all people and dogs, Maverick is a wonderfully well rounded pup. He has not been tested with cats. He should be expected to reach about 65 lbs full grown. In his short span of life, he had been through so much hardship. His first owner according to animal pound staff tied his nuzzle shut with wires then used him to solicit donations from sympathetic passerby on the streets. He was taken over by a couple but then decided to surrender him due to long work hours. Fortunately staff at an animal clinic rescued him and provided a safe and stable environment. Upon arrival, he was observed to be protective of food but after hand feeding, he now trusts his humans handling his food. Further training is to be expected in new home and plenty of physical and mental stimulation to keep him rightly occupied. Lotte is an avid learner. With proper exercise and obedience training, he would be a great agility partner and outdoor adventure buddy. Blu

    rescue
    Breed: Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Blu is exceptional! Blu has made quite the comeback after being found as an emaciated stray literally at deaths door with two other hounds (also rescued) in September. Blue is so full of life! He has so much personality packed in his perfect, small, 3 year old, 40 pound hound mix package! This sweet and gentle charmer is a softy. He loves to cuddle and has the best goofy smile. He also makes a cute squeak noise when he is getting comfortable to lay down! Blu makes the best snuggle buddy on the sofa, or in your bed at night. He just LOVES to be near and touching his people. He knows basic commands such as come, sit, lay down and leave it. He is house trained and crate trained. No resource guarding with this guy! He lies down while waiting for his food, while waiting to go out and come in. He is laid back and calm and gets along well with everyone big or small. Blu walks great on a leash and doesn't get bothered by other dogs or people walking by. Blue is sharing his foster home with a senior hound and a younger playful hound and enjoys the company of both. He understands not all dogs what to rough house ;) Blue has not been cat tested yet but given his easy going, laid back personality we suspect he will be just fine. We plan to cat test soon and will update his post once we know for certain. Despite everything Blu's been though, he is trusting, incredibly loving and eager to please. His personality is something to be experienced to truly appreciate this special boy. Murphy

    rescue
    Breed: Boxer-Mastiff Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Mastiff / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). 3.5 year old "content cuddler" mix. Psssst! Murphy here, and I’ve got some great news to share! I came into ARF’s care as a very skinny and hungry fellow who had somehow lost my way in the world. My foster parents showered me with love, warmth, and delicious healthy food and now I’m the most handsome and humble dog on the block. They tell me that the only thing bigger than my cute bobble head is my beautiful caring heart. I’m living with another resident pooch who tolerates my playful pounces, but to be honest I could be happy being the only dog in the family or paired up with a younger dog that matches my energy level. I’m a fairly large boy and since I love to run and play it would be great to have a yard of my own. Humans that are steady on their feet would make the best friends for me, and boy am I ever a snuggler! I’m not much for toys and such, but offer to take me on a trail walk or invite me up on the couch for some lovin’ and I am all over that. I am just so eager to please. When my people go out for short periods or when everyone goes to bed at night, I do hunker down in my crate with very little hesitation. I am ready to interview my forever family now as I’ve been vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for heart worm, and will be neutered January 17th. Are you a dog-savvy human with some large-breed experience? I’m excited to meet you and share all my love and attention! Visit .arfontario/project/murphy to start the adoption process.

    Lola

    rescue
    Breed: Rottweiler-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Rottweiler / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). 2.5 year old "smoochy poochy" mix. If you are a fan of the “black and tan” gang, then we’ve got a girlie for you! Lovely Lola is a happy pup and is enamoured with any humans she meets, including the kiddies. Because she loooves to soak up all that attention, she would do best in a forever home where she is the only family pet. Lola loves to go for car rides and walks nicely on her harness and lead. She is a master cuddler on the couch and would even get in your lap if she could fit. Always leaning in for pets and scratches, she enjoys keeping company with her people. Lola is trusted with free run of the house when left alone for short periods, but does appreciate having her open crate accessible for times when she wants to lay in there to chill out and relax. Things-that-squeak are her “jam”, and she enjoys browsing out in the yard or catching some rays there. Lola has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has tested negative for heart worm. She is looking for a loving forever home that will continue her positive reinforcement training, support her need for exercise, and welcome her smooch-able block head silliness. If you’d love to meet this adorable diva, visit .arfontario/project/lola.

Posted Breed: English Bulldog. Hello my name is Zelda I'm a bulldog and I'm almost five years old. I have recently moved into a new foster home and I live with two other dogs one named Walter and one named Philly I don't know how old they are I can't count.I think I am I beautiful and agreeable girl but my foster mother keeps saying words like unworldly, no boundaries, and pushy. Apparently that's not too weird for a bulldog girl? I don't know I just know that I am what I am.My foster mother says I'm a hog and that I steal toys and resource guard and that if she's not careful I will resource guard my people too, so it sounds like they're very careful to not leave toys around or let me up on the couch. I love the couch and when I get on the couch I get so excited I feel like I need to hump the person who's on the couch with me. Once I get told off (which is every time) I usually settle on the floor or on my dog bed and chew my bones or my toysI don't mind being lazy but I also enjoy walks I apparently don't know this thing called a recall so I don't get to go loose but that's okay...if you have food and teach me I will learn.I am head of kitchen supervision, I am queen of my toys and chewing, other dogs give me confidence but I was a lone wolf for 4 years .My foster mum acts like she knows everything and says. I need a strong owner ( physically and mentally) with good boundaries. I don't think kids are my bag I haven't done anything wrong but noises and people randomly taking my toys might not be a great mix. I have stranger danger sometimes. I need to work on how I meet new people and I don't like strangers getting in my face or reaching over my head. I think that's reasonable. People see my smushy face and want to touch it WHY? When people come over I have to go into my crate until I have calmed down. I met my foster Bros dog walker it was ok but I got scared when he touched my face then I like to bark.Quiet homes are nice. Walks around the blocks are nice. I'm slowly gaining weight and my eyes are getting better ( I don't fight to have my drops anymore my foster mum let's me bite the bottle just to show it whose boss) . I need the comfort of my crate I sleep loose at night and I'm eating a combination of raw and fish dog food. We weren't sure if I had allergies I seem to love fish and chicken. I'm working on some health issues. They took my lady bits away from me about a month ago.I was pretty stinky but I definitely stink less...I don't love baths but I can pull it off if you're calm and nice with me. I'm working hard at being good!! I think I'm good. I love a snuggle.Only dog or a laid back male would be great. I have no reactivity or aggression towards any others canine beings when they're outside of my house I don't like strange dogs coming into my house.I probably would like to learn how to play. Maybe in a closed off dog park where I can't run away of I don't like it. Just consistency , patience, and I will be moving on UP! I'm good and lovely I promise!Home Requirements- dog savy cats-no kids under the age of 10- dog only home or laid back male ( maybe)
