    Jack

    rescue
    Breed: Doberman Pinscher
    Sex: Male Male
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Doberman Pinscher. My name is Jack and I am a big puppy 11 months old. I was found running the streets at 6 months of age and had to have an eye removed as it was deformed. I haven’t had a lot of training in my young life and not many people that I could count upon. Having one eye does change your outlook on life and your perception of things at times. I am a sweet boy with lots of energy to burn but not always so confident. I need a home that has good current Doberman experience, and that understands the mind and antics of adolescent Dobermans. I will also please need a confident leader who will lovingly and patiently work with me. Patience and consistency are so important when dealing with an adolescent! Taking me to obedience class that trains only in positive reinforcement will be required of my adopted family. I ride nicely in the car and don’t do too badly on leash so some of the foundation for training has been started. I really want to please if someone would just give me the chance, work with me and see it through. I would be best in a home with dogs that are close to my own size – no small dogs- I like to play and play hard! I also passed a cat test. If you are interested in me please go to .doberescue-ne and review the adoption area and rules. If you qualify please place an application for me. Thank you. All of our dogs are current with all shots, are on heart worm preventative monthly and are neutered/spayed. All dogs are tail docked. All of the above Dobes are pure breed Dobermans unless otherwise noted. We hope you can find a place in your heart and your home for one of our rescue Dobes. Please Note: In most cases we require a fenced yard. We do not place our rescue dogs in homes with very young children (under the age of 8 years). We set these limitations, not because of aggression issues with our dogs, but because Dobermans are generally large, active dogs and can easily knock down, run over or easily trip a small child, causing a serious fall. Also, we reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason. Our adoption area encompasses Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Posted Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). My name is Ace and I am approximately a year old. I am all puppy, full of joy, full of life and full of play! I like almost every dog I meet and when I meet them I want to play. I am young and haven’t had a lot of manners taught to me but I am willing to learn. I love to please! Because I was abandoned I am not always sure that it is ok to be left alone. The right family for me should have a dog that likes to play of course and they must have good patient and loving leadership skills as it will take time and patience to train me properly and mold me into the best boy ever. I am so ready to go there but I need the right place. Please go to .doberescue-ne, review the adoption rules, and if you qualify please fill out an application. Peanut

    rescue
    Breed: Italian Greyhound
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Distance: Aprox. 5.0 mi from Omaha
Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Peanut is looking for that special someone to watch television with, share an occasional snack and most of all, snuggle with. He is an older adult, around 7-10 years who only wants to be someones #1 cuddle companion and best friend. Peanut doesn’t mind canine brothers and sisters any size, as long as they’re respectful, he will cuddle right in with them. He occasionally wants to take more than his half of the bed, but with a little parental supervision, he sees the value in sharing. We think he would be happiest in a home with other dogs, small preferably. Peanut appreciates a quieter home where someone can focus on him, which won’t be hard as he follows you from room to room. His potty habits are A+++ for an Italian greyhound, with access to go potty at intervals (with his foster siblings) he has had only one accident. He marked a little (he wanted everyone to know whose house it really was). but with 2 days of a belly band ruining his look he now knows its his house and no need to mark. Peanut is an EXCELLENT car traveler. He sleeps quietly while on the road and will listen to any genre of music. He walks wonderfully on a leash and enjoys exploring new places. He crates nicely when foster mom is away for part of the day. He does need a kind but firm person to help him with his food and toy guarding behaviors around other dogs and when he gets protective of his people when other people are around. He is doing well with this in his current foster home. We think the best home would be one which is quiet with no kids and without much foot traffic or visitors. We are looking for just the right fit for Peanut to be sucessful and happy. We want this to be his FOREVER home. If you think Peanut could be your companion and you can provide him a stable, quiet and safe home, please apply (unless you have small children, he wants to be the only baby). Peanut is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, Heartworm neg and on preventatives, and had a recent dental/extractions and has just one tooth left. WE RESPOND TO ALL INQUIRIES. IF YOU DON'T HEAR BACK FROM US WITHIN 48 HOURS, PLEASE EMAIL US DIRECTLY AT: neigrescuegmail. Petfinder has had some issues with their emails to us. Please visit us at midwestigrescue to learn more about the adoption process and to fill out an application. We do require an adoption donation fee to help us cover the cost of vetting while they are in our care. This fee varies depending on their age. Our applicaton process consists of a completed application, vet and two personal reference checks and home visit. We do require that your resident pets be spayed or neutered and have routine veterinary care and check-ups. Our dogs are available for adoption in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota will be considered for adoption to surrounding states (within a reasonable day drive). We DO NOT transport or ship dogs. You would be responsible for picking up from foster home. If you are in a state other than NE , IA, or SD, you will need to work with your state's IGCA representative first in order to get your application processed and approved before being considered. Please use the website igrescue to find your state's affilate and rescue representative. Thank you for your understanding!

    Guinness *Mi...

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Distance: Aprox. 6.2 mi from Omaha
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Adoption Fee: $125. German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (.heartlandgsrescue) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information. Guinness is a calm and loving guy, and a sweet soft teddy bear! We rescued Guinness from a high kill shelter in CA, where he was running out of time due to lack of space. It was painfully obvious that Guinness had not had an easy life, as his coat was in poor condition, he had fly strike on his ears from being kept as a neglected, outdoor dog. Guinness couldn't be happier and more grateful to be in a loving foster home. He loves his people and is what you might call a "velcro dog." With good care and nutrition, he has transformed into a regal, majestic boy. He takes treats like a gentleman and gently tongues them out of your hand. He is crate-trained and potty-trained. He loves to play in the yard, likes to toss his ball around (and will sometimes fetch it), and he enjoys stuffed toys as well. Guinness will often choose to curl up on a blanket over his dog bed. He really enjoys walks, car rides, and outings. He knows "sit" and "kennel up." Guinness tends to get itchy, but has been doing great since he was switched to a raw diet. Guinness is a sweet guy who truly just wants to please his humans. Guinness is looking for a home where he can be an only pet, as he loves people best, and his favorite thing is to hang out with his humans. He is well-behaved in the house, enjoys having adult company over, and he greets family and guests politely at the door. He is a great boy! Guinness' minimum adoption fee is $125, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. ADOPTING A SENIOR: Seniors have so much love and life in them, and bring much happiness to the wonderful families who adopt them. They are calmer, more mellow, require considerably less exercise, and are just as fun, loyal, and loving as younger dogs. Seniors are an excellent choice for first-time GSD owners or for anyone looking for a low-key, mellow companion! HUGS SENIOR REPEAT ADOPTER PROGRAM: When you adopt a HUGS senior, and later come back back to adopt another senior, you are eligible to pay a reduced senior adoption fee of $125. Thank you for loving these wonderful, very deserving dogs, as much as we do! Please review the information in the "About Us", "Important Considerations" and "Adopt" sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.

    Ryder

    rescue
    Breed: Border Collie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Distance: Aprox. 7.6 mi from Omaha
Posted Breed: Border Collie (medium coat). Please contact Rose (japchinrosegmail) for more information about this pet. Ryder is a 2 year old border collie that was not doing well in a shelter environment so we were asked to help. Ryder is around 2 years old and super smart and loves to snuggle. He is OK with other calm dogs but doesn't like them in his face. He will ignore cats outside but if they run from him, he will chase so no cats is probably best. He has been around older kids and is great with all people. His dioes however, have some motion sensitivity and will bark and try to chase cars. We think because of this, a quiet home in the country might be the best place for him. Not an apartment dog. Here are some things his foster mom has to say about him. "He is a gentle dog, loves pets, loves belly rubs, and loves to be in the same room as me. He does not have food aggression or toy aggression that I’ve seen. He loves to be outside and enjoyed the walks we took (limited due to weather). He walks VERY well on leash, however does bark and lunge at passing cars. He does have some anxiety when people come up to, pass by, or come in the house. He barks and jumps. He does start panting. We worked on being calm with positive reinforcement with treats to help with jumping. I actually saw some progress too! It isn’t angry or aggressive barking, he is just loud and vocal. We have a fenced in backyard, but I think Ryder would do very will with a larger backyard with a place to really run! He has so many positives going for him! 1. He knows “no” 2. Lets me touch his feet and paws 3. Does not chew on shoes, furniture, or clothes 4. He takes treats very well, does not bite fingers 5. Eats his food slow 6. Know clicker training, sit, down, stay, leave it 7. Loves deer antlers" To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $225 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranaged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.

    Breed: Australian Shepherd

    Location: USA
Distance: Aprox. 7.6 mi from Omaha
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Labrador Retriever (short coat). Please contact Rose (japchinrosegmail) for more information about this pet. Paxton is a young mix of either Aussie or perhaps border collie with something large like a labrador. He was found and taken to a small rural shelter. When no one claimed him after several months, the shelter asked for rescue help. Paxton has learned basic manners such as sit, lay down, shake, and is working on leave it, not jumping and walking nicely on a leash. Paxton would do best in a home that is active and can exercise his brain. Paxton would do best in a home with no small children as he can get a little busy and is still jumpy. Paxton has a fun outgoing personality. He enjoys being where the people are. He likes to play fetch and run around outside. Paxton is learning manners in the home such as not getting into the trash or on the counters. He is doing well in his foster home who try to keep him busy with bones and mental exercises. Paxton is house and kennel trained. Paxton can be a little pushy with play but is good with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats. She is a doll. She is good with older kids ( she likes hands so little kids might think she is biting). She loves to run in the yard. With this weather and having puppies her housetraining is a bit off. If let out in the yard enough she seems to do pretty good. On a leash well she prefers to go out quick and back in and not really do everything so we are using pads. She likes to play with toys. She is good with dogs he own size and cats. Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Meet Katy!! She’s a lovely 1 1/2-2 year old, 40 pound (she could lose a few pounds), Red Heeler mix with a partially white eye. She went through a prison program in Missouri where she was paired up with an inmate handler for 3 1/2 months and learned basic obedience skills (sit, stay, shake, etc). She is housebroken and crate trained. True to her Heeler personality, she bonds strongly with her person and then kinda tries to protect them. Katy is good with kids and protective of them. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but also loves being lazy or snuggling. She is in a foster home with cats and doing fine with them. She will bark or growl when really startled so you must say her name when entering the room she is in to prevent startling her... and then she’s chill She walks wonderfully on a leash and will be a great companion for person/family who will take charge and set boundaries To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $225 donation is requested at the time of adoption.
