The Poodle is a favorite family pet. The breed is very intelligent, trains easily, and is devoted to his family. They are quite playful, yet wary of strangers.

The German Shepherd is unmatched in character and courage. These dogs make great companions because they are loyal and have the heightened senses of an excellent watch dog. At the same time, they can be gentle and playful companions for children.

Boxweiler

The Boxweiler is a powerful and muscular dog whose origins come from rottweilers and boxers. Therefore, they have a strong drive to protect and please their families. They have a deep chest and a double layer coat with either fawn or brindle coloring. While all puppies have lots of energy, a full grown boxweiler is not a hyper dog and does not like to wander far from its family or home. It is alert and cautious around strangers, but friendly and goofy with family and friends. Proper socialization, like with any protective dog, is key.

The Siberian Husky is very similar in looks to the Alaskan Malamute, yet somewhat smaller in build and not quite as bold. Still, he needs a strong-willed owner who will stay in control. This dog loves to roam and explore, so he needs a nice big yard.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

Though Doberman Pinschers are large dogs, they are very graceful and a joy to behold. These make great watch dogs and companions, as they are brave and alert to any possible danger.

American Pit Bull Terrier

The American Pit Bull was originally bred for dog fighting and gained a reputation as a vicious animal. Can be a loyal and affectionate pet when trained and socialized properly.

American Bandogge

The American Bandogge is a cross between an Bulldog and a Mastiff. The American Bandogge is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Bulldog and a Mastiff. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the American Bandogge are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. We currently do not have more detailed information for this breed.

American Bulldog

Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.

The American Staffordshire Terrier is often called "all-American" dog. The breed is loyal and brave, making it a great family pet.
