Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting. ***** Chance is 1yo/8mo old, weighs 62lbs, is up to date on his vaccines, is intact, and is not microchipped. Chance's guardian adds: "Spending these last year and half with Chance, has introduced me to a whole another level of love and affection. He has a big personality. He is a protector. He loves to play, he loves to run, and he is very vocal. He is quiet at night, so I never had any issues sleeping (outside of my asthma flare ups that developed). He is vocal in how he loves. Over the course of these years of living with him, he has kept me on my toes as a very active companion." Chance's guardian explains why he has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "I struggle with asthma. It developed after a year and 2 months of having my dog chance. My dad is slowing down and won't be able to watch him longterm. And due to me not being as hands on as I would like due to my allergy and asthma flare ups, I can't be as involved a I'd like." Scratch Incident: In Upper Marlboro, MD, Chance once accidentally scratched his guardian while they were playing; the scratch broke the skin, guardian washed and applied Neosporin, and animal control was not involved. Chance's guardian states the following regarding children: Chance hasn't lived with or otherwise been around children, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children because he doesn't know how Chance would act. Chance's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Chance hasn't lived with dogs, but his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "Never lived with dogs. Unknown. But I'd love for him to around other dogs if possible". Chance's guardian states the following regarding cats: Chance has lived with a cat, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "I have had a cat for 9 years. They don't get along the best". He has anxiety now, lots of it, but I feel it's because he isn't in an environment that can help him thrive due to my asthma flare ups with him.
