Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Courtesy Post - Special Needs Have you ever seen two more beautiful boys? We are a very special package of love looking for our forever home. We are siblings and are a super sweet bonded pair that will need to be placed together. Be prepared to be showered with affection, as we love everyone we meet! Gentlemen we are, we get along with other dogs in general but Moe is not quite sure what to think of higher energy dogs. We are fully vetted which includes, being neutered and up to date on all of our vaccines and are heartworm negative as well. We have been diagnosed with dry eye disease. A few things to know about our condition: Our eyes can’t moisturize themselves properly so we need medication applied to our eyes daily. (We don’t mind it, it relieves our discomfort!) We do have limited vision and are sensitive to the light. A regular relationship with a canine eye specialist will be .needed so that we can continue to be awesome without discomfort.. We can’t wait to find a home that will welcome us with open arms, and we look forward to showering that devoted family with unwavering love and devotion.

More About German Shepherd Dog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Hope

      rescue
      Breed: German Shepherd Dog
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Adoption Fee: 300.00. UPDATE! Hope is doing wonderful! She has recovered from her leg surgery and has had her last heartworm treatment! Hope is a very good girl and just loves to snuggle on the couch with her person/people. Due to the severity of her leg injury, Hope would do best in a home that isn’t very active. She will play and run around, but not for extended periods of time. Hope does walk with a pronounced limp, but it doesn’t bother her at all! She still thinks she’s beautiful...and she’s right!! Hope would do best either as an only dog so she can get all the attention or in a home with a respectful dog that will allow her to do her thing! She’s a bit of a princess! Hope is a wonderful, sweet, senior female GSD. She was surrendered to a shelter with a severe leg injury. She is also heartworm positive. Her leg was able to be saved and she will begin heartworm treatments shortly. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. She will be available to go to her forever home once her leg is healed. Her adoption fee is $300 plus tax

      Bentley

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: German Shepherd Dog
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Bentley is approximately 2 years old. He is a male GSD. He was found living in a trailer with 4 puppies and the mother of pups. He seems to be fine with people, although can be a bit shy at first. He has done well with other dogs so far. We have also been told that he has lived his entire life inside and let out on a porch to go potty. Until he was rescued, he had never touched grass! From Bentley’s foster: “Bentley has come a long way since he first came into foster care. He was fearful when I first met him and would not approach new people. He now takes treats from others. He is also a snuggle bug and loves laying with his head on my lap when I’m sitting on the couch. He also shows huge talent for learning; while he wasn’t put through formal training before coming into rescue he has built confidence by learning to walk, walk on a loose leash, to touch, and more. This dog is full of love and is looking for the right home to share that love with. I think a home with another dog would be ideal as he is still learning what it means to be a dog and a role model would be great!” He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. His adoption fee is $400 plus tax
