Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). "MAX" German Shepard mix? found dragging a big heavy chain. He was very hard to get a picture of because he kept coming up to me for love. He is a VERY sweet and friendly dog. He was very excitable when he first came to us but now he is very calm and about as gentle as a big dog can be. He does have a slight limp but it doesn't seem to be anything serious. Probably from carrying around the chain. He has a bit of grey around his mouth. He is black with tan feet. He is NOT neutered. Foster has a little Jack Russell that is too nervous of Max for him to stay. If you are interested in adopting please send an email to adopt@tlcpaws.org.

More About German Shepherd Dog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Rottweiler
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Rottweiler (short coat). Roxy is a Rottweiler/Blue Heeler mix and will be 7 years of age in August. Her mom was a full bred Rottweiler and her dad was a full bred Blue Heeler. She is up to date on her shots and we can provide any information necessary. She is a very loyal dog and her best environment is probably as a single pet, but she does currently live with another dog and she has lived with cats for the last 2 years. She is the type of dog that will follow you all around the house and lay outside doors waiting on you to come out. She loves to cuddle and sometimes thinks she is a lap dog in spite of her size. She loves to go for walks and play fetch. She can catch frisbee's, but doesn't always bring them back as it turns into a game at that point. She is a larger dog and is fine with kids, but does have the propensity to knock toddlers over if she gets too excited. She is a very smart dog and requires attention and exercise. We would like to find a good permanent home for her. Please email adopt@tlcpaws.org if you are interested in Roxy.

      rescue
      Breed: Labrador Retriever
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Rusty showed up at my son's house just over 4 weeks ago now. Male, approximately 1 year old maybe a little older, beautiful light red coat, white teeth, loves to run and play, has good temperament, has responded well to all adults that have come in contact with him and also was good with the finders twin 9 year old nieces. Loves being petted. Has not had any bathroom accidents when staying inside during our cold temps recently, so he may have been an inside dog. Has not been neutered. He responds fairly good to "SIT", I think he could be trained easily. He is a gorgeous dog! I would not recommend him for families with young/small children, he is big, about 60-70 lbs. He does like to roam, but neutering might help with that. Could be good with children just the finder was concerned about his size.
