Until his rescue, Buddy had spent his whole life tied outside in Alabama with no shelter. One of our amazing rescue friends saved him and asked if NELR could help with his journey and we were honored to say ‘yes’ so he can live out his days pampered and loved. His wonderful savior fostered him while he got his vetting done, which included a little extra time for treatment of heartworm, but he is looking and feeling great and is ready for a happily ever after in New Hampshire or Vermont (*due to regulations regarding transport of recently heartworm positive dogs in some states). You’ve never seen joy and appreciation like that of a dog that’s introduced to the niceties of home living for the first time - Buddy is absolutely loving all the comforts of being inside, protected, cared for, and LOVED! Amazingly, he took right to pottying in the correct place and enjoys having his own, cozy, bachelor pad crate to sleep in. He’s also been loving playtime with toys and other dogs, is good with bigger kids (8+yo, he’s working on jumping) and is fine with cats. He is eager to please and learns so quickly. We’re so glad he is now on the path that he was meant for and clearly is worthy of. We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes. We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
