Posted Breed: Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $149. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team come on, give me a chance! Date into Rescue: 12/27/17 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray with Deanna Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Demodex mange was found on a skin scrape. We are currently treating him and do not think this will be a life-long issue. Brett was treated for Demodex mange and now has 0 issues with his skin. Weight: 45 lbs Height: Growing Adoption Fee: $149 Fence needed? Yes. He is active. What kind of home would be best for me? 6/23/2017"I'm Brett, I was found a stray with my bud Deanna by one of the caregivers here at CPR. I have been here for a little over a year now,, I am getting pretty lonely and really want to find some family of my own. When I first got here I was still a puppy, and I think that is what scared some people away. But since I have grown wiser and older I have calmed down a great deal! I love love love affection, sometimes I think I'm a little lap dog. Although I am still active, and love to explore.. I still like cuddling up next to someone I care about and having their attention at the end of the day. You wanna what kind of tricks I can do? I can sit, stand back up, catch a treat in my mouth and I will even let the treat roll down my nose. Give me a chance!" 2016- Brett is a sweet and loving guy. He is a big goofy puppy who loves attention and likes to show affection. He is playful and friendly although we found out recently he's afraid of cats so a cat free home is now part of Brett's wish list. He is as sweet and easy as they come! Brett has the hound type personality down pat. He loves to romp and run in the field until he wears himself out. Brett would be great for an adventurous- outdoorsy type of person. He is friendly as he can be but would do well with someone that has experience training dogs or someone that is willing to further training in a obedience class. Brett recently spent one-on-one time with a caregiver and he shared, "Brett's leash training needs work but he did well. He was active and enjoyed being outside more than in. He's a love bug and attaches to you quickly." How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est birth date 4/17/2015 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Date into Rescue: 2/8/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Pulled from a NC shelter, Oreo was surrendered by her owner when they moved. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Oreo came to us with heartworms, but tested negative 12/3/2017! No more heartworms! Weight: 79 lb Height: Estimated 17 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $125 Fence needed? Not needed, but Oreo would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Oreo would love somewhere to romp and play and run and then cuddle time with her person! She is good with dogs around her size and would love a dog friend to play and spend time with. She does not need to go to a home with other small animals; she seems to think they are toys. What is my personality like? Oreo came to the rescue as a bonded pair with her little poodle friend, Bailey. They were not bonded and Oreo really found herself when they were separated, so we decided to adopt them separately. Oreo loves to romp and play. She is always running and playing in our big field with her other big dog friends. After a full day of play she loves to lie in the sun or in the cool grass. Oreo has a pretty moderate energy level. She is pretty independent for the most part, but she does enjoy being affectionate with people. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Other tips and tidbits: House trained? Date into Rescue: 8/25/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Pulled from a SC shelter, was found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted Weight: 44 lb Height: 19-20 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? I would love a fenced in area to explore in.. Or just a lot of walks. What kind of home would be best for me? I am looking for my retirement home somewhere maybe on a farm where I can bask in the sunshine and go on lots of nature walks. What is my personality like? I'm a older lady but not too old! I still love to wander through the woods and play a little with dogs of my size. When I am outside there is nothing stopping this nose from working. I could sniff and roam all day long and come home to soak my paws and take it easy. That would be the perfect life for me. I don't ask for much! I get carried away while on a leash so a harness would be best to walk me with since I like to pull. Treats? Ooooh I love them. This lady at Carolina Poodle Rescue thinks that I know basic commands but it has just been awhile since this gal has had to do them. My story is short and sweet.. I was found as a stray in South Carolina and taken to a local shelter.. but now I am at the farm! I don't get to roam as much as I'd like to though.. and I would also love to be reminded on how to be a pet again. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly.. but it is hard to get my attention with my nose to the ground. Other Tips and Tidbits: House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A fence would be ideal until fully leash trained What kind of home would be best for me? Hank needs a kind, low-key and patient home that does not mind working with him. Hank came to the rescue from a very under-socialized environment. He has made lots of progress, but is still learning what being someone's pet really is. He is good with other dogs, but does not care for cats. What is my personality like? Hank's story is more like a song. His past is rocky which is why he is so unsure of new people, but boy does this dog have potential. Hank has been with us for 6 months and it's so hard to believe that the terrified dog hiding in the back of his pen is now this bright vibrant lap dog. We have put real dedication into this guy and it surely shows. This insecure, troubled soul has turn into a glorified toy hoarder and a huge baby that loves to give kisses. All he really wants is just to be a families dog. Not a yard ornament. Not something to look at when you are bored. But a real part of your family. Mind you, Hank is still apprehensive of new people, but he has shown us if you are willing to try with him then he will most definitely try with you. Winning him over just takes a little time and his favorite snack of course - cheese puffs! He still needs leash work; we think he will learn successfully with time and a front walking harness. How do I act when I first meet new people? Weary of new people. It takes a little time but then he is basically a lap dog. Other tips and tidbits: Hank can be VERY affectionate once he's comfortable with someone and he really loves cheese puffs! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Date into Rescue: 8/28/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Transfer from another rescue due to space, originally from a hoarder case. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Needs to continue working on socialization Weight: 9 lb Height: 7 in at shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but it would be nice! What kind of home would be best for me? I would like a lap dog home, one where we can go on walks and have play time but at the end of the day, I want to snuggle. I'm very much a home body and enjoy watching tv and hanging out on the couch. Other dogs are great and all but tummy rubs and snuggles with my human are better. I still need a little socialization but I'm getting really good at learning people aren't bad at all! What is my personality like? I have a shy personality. I haven't been around many people or many different places. So I can be a little timid with new things. Since I've been with CPR, I've been learning that if you go slow with me and show me all sorts of attention, people aren't bad at all. How do I act when I first meet new people? I'm a little timid, but I warm up with love and treats! Other tips and tidbits: House trained?
