Posted Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Meet Ava! We fell in love with Ava after she was rescued by one of our partners in Mexico. She was found roaming the streets in very poor condition and they nursed her back to health. She is now in a foster home in Seattle and doing wonderfully. She is ready to find her forever family! From her fosters: Ava is a happy and friendly girl with a gorgeous soft coat, loves affection, loves walks, she’s an expert sniffer and very curious about every rustle in every shrub. She needs more practice walking on leash. Likes other dogs, not sure about cats but she is very critter focused so perhaps not. She would do great with an active family. About 35 pounds Ava is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $394 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
