Posted Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Meet Ginger! Oh this cutie is so sweet! She is a friendly but submissive girl who seems to have been starved of affection. She is shy but so grateful for any kindness shown to her. She lights up when you walk into the room. From her foster family: She’s doing great with going potty outside, now sleeps through the night in the kennel next to my bed and has learned to sit. She’s working on the leash and does well when treats are involved. She rides well in the car and loves my kids. She and my dog co exist so she definitely doesn’t need to be around other dogs. She prefers human companionship. Ginger does not like being alone very much and will do better in a home where someone is around. Her separation anxiety needs some work. She needs a home with a yard and is not well suited for apartment living. Ginger will be vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $495 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
