Posted Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. A picture is worth a thousand words and a picture of Shadow is worth a thousand expressions of love. A beautiful girl with a loving heart and sweet soul will mesh with her perfect family. Shadow is a 4-month-old shepherd mix who currently weighs around 23 pounds. With the coming months she will grow to her adult size, and it is estimated that she will be a large size dog of over 50 pounds when fully grown. We are certain that when she reaches adulthood, she will be more charming than ever. She has a great foundation of sweetness that is sure to grow with her. Making friends is as easy as one, two, three with Shadow. She will make the most out of her time with other dogs, children and adults. Fun is an essential part of her daily life, and nothing brings in more fun than sharing time with friends. She has not had the opportunity to be introduced to a feline since coming into rescue, so her acceptance of a cat remains unknown. She is in the process of learning her house, crate and leash training. She is doing her best and she knows that her family will be there for her to make it across the finish line. As with all puppies, Shadow is full of curiosity and wonderment, and is ready to grow from adorable puppy to amazing dog with the right guidance and patience. She will need a home with someone who has the time, desire and energy to train and socialize her so that she can become the perfect lifelong companion. She is ready to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight and be the showstopper of a canine companion. After all, to cast a shadow, one needs a light source, and your love will shine a light right into her heart. Pictures will only tell part of the story but meeting Shadow in person will introduce her lovable and fun nature. The adoption fee for Shadow is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
