Lou is a 4-year-old mixed breed, about 65 lbs, in need of a loving home. He is a true sweetheart that enjoys getting pets, taking naps, snuggling, and playing. Lou loves his stuffed animals, kongs, and toys - but never chews up items that are not his. Lou does well with his foster family’s cat and he gets along great with some dogs and not as well with others. Lou is housebroken, does well on leash, and loves a road trip! Young children make Lou anxious so he needs a child free home (12+) but he adores older children and adults. If you are looking for a loving & loyal partner, Lou is your dog! **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at .muttloverescue/application.html OR write to adoptmuttloverescue. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
