Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Available for Pre-adoption! Nelle is a sweet & happy puppy with such a gentle soul. He is very obedient, easy going and affectionate. He enjoys playing with his toys, can entertain himself and loves to curl up on your lap for a nap. Nelle crates easily, is potty trained at foster home, doggy door trained, is leash trained, knows sit, come and shake. Nelle is easy to train, eager to please and recalls easily. Good with kids, cats and all dogs. Currently in foster with a professional dog trainer who we highly recommend. Nelle is very smart, has a balance of calm and playful. He is confident, easy in public (his foster takes him to coffee shops) he is very handler focused not worried about the environment. Nelle is quiet in the crate and rides in a car quietly. He is very playful with other dogs and is progressing beautifully. Nelle needs a home with a yard and another fur sibling to share his life with. Private message if interested!

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
