Visit our FAQ page to learn why. Kong is a great pup. He likes to play and explore like most puppies do. He is pretty active with bursts of playfulness. As with all puppies training will be a must with this flashy little guy. Training is the only way to prevent undesirable behaviors. He also needs a lot of socialization. The more people of all ages he can meet the better. Interactions with people of all ages and with other animals is a key component to helping Kong to develop into the best canine citizen he can be. A home with children over the age of five is preferred. Kong's baby teeth are razor sharp and can unintentionally hurt the tender fingers and toes of smaller children. Kong's adoption fee is $550, which includes vet exam, age appropriate vaccinations and tests, microchip, and spay or neuter. Please note we only accept cash or checks-no credit cards.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
