Posted Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Zuri is a female 3-4 year old spayed hound dog that is great with kids and dogs but does not get along well with cats so she will have to be trained to like cats if there is one present in the house. She is 50 pounds of playful love. She is a hound and has a typical hound dog howl. Zuri loves to play and is somewhat clumsy which just makes her more endearing. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a car both in a crate and free riding. Zuri has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm negative. We are NOT the shelter, we are Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pet Rescue (FJCASP) If interested in meeting this baby, you can find an online adoption application at fjcasp.wufoo/forms/adoption-application/ Adoption fees covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, wormers and preventatives and range from $50-$125. All of our animals have been heart worm tested and are on monthly preventions. You can help save a life by fostering an animal from FJCASP. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
