Posted Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois (short coat). #A5601991 Kene is a gorgeous smart dog who is recovering from some injuries, but we expect him to be ready for a great life once he’s healed! Will have his front leg amputated 2/13/24 which will reduce his pain and then he needs some time to recover and build up his balance and strength as a tripod. - Gentle affectionate boy - Not yet neutered so he will need a trust deposit if neuter is not done by his adoption day - Low energy now, likely to be moderate - medium once he’s back on his feet and feeling good again - Came into the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray on January 3 - Just over 1 year and about 56 pounds (underweight) - Looks like a purebred Belgian Malinois - Lovely tan fur with a classic black muzzle - Injuries on his abdomen and front leg suggest he might have been hit by a car - Breed is typically smart, loyal devoted to their person or family - Health waiver may be required KENE’S VIDEO: ​​ youtube/shorts/lSt1 For more information, contact volunteer Lor at lorunitedhopeforanimals ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
