Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 500. Hi my name is Scooby, an adorable terrier mix boy, and I would love to be part of your family! I’m around 14 weeks old and 11 lbs. I will probably be medium sized between 30-35 lbs when I’m all grown up. My favorite things are playing tug, chase, and hide and seek with my canine foster sister. I would be ok as an only pup but really would love another dog friend to play with. I also love snuggling on the couch with my foster humans especially with my head tucked in their necks! I’m already crate trained, almost completely potty trained and I know how to sit too! I am doing great with the two kids in my foster home who are 13 and 11. Since I’m still a puppy and learning not to nip it would be best for me to be in a home with children over 8. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
