Posted Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed. Check out our gorgeous guy, Bruce! He is a *stunning* purebred Cane Corso looking for a forever home who understands the uniqueness of his breed. I know, guys that are that beautiful usually don't have the personality to go with it, but Bruce is the whole package! He is a snuggle bug who loves to be with his people and pup friends and happily snoozes the day away in his foster mom's office while she works -- that is when he's not wrestling with his foster brother. He's got such a sweet personality and has been well-socialized so he loves people and all dogs. Bruce does have some issues with separation anxiety that he is working on with his foster mom, so he should not go to a home where he'll be left alone for hours at a time daily -- although he's improving, and having a pup friend around definitely helps! He is also working on his leash manners with his foster mom because he tends to get very excited if he sees a squirrel on their walks. However, when there are no squirrels (or other small animals) around, he is a perfect gentleman on the leash. His ideal home would have other dog friends for him to pal around with and a human who is home for most of the day -- or willing to take Bruce along. He does very well in the car and hops right in! While out on the town, Bruce loves getting attention from everyone he meets. If you're looking for a giant love bug who will be absolutely devoted to you, this guy is your perfect match.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
