Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescueyahoo), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet. Extremely mild mannered and well behaved. Very little daily maintenance but he will need to be groomed every 2-3 months as his hair does grow long. This guy was found on the streets by our very high kill shelter here in San Antonio, Tx after he had been brutally attacked by a pack of stray dogs. Because of this he is terrified of male dogs and instantly goes into attack/protection mode. Can you blame him? While undergoing multiple vet visits for treatment he remained calm and a great patient, the vet fell in love with him. Surely this guy once had a home with someone because he is so well behaved and such a good guy. It is really a wonder why he was on the streets in the first place. Walter is a long hair wired haired terrier who is 4 years old and weighs 22 pounds, he is a lightweight. He loves everyone. Pictures of him with long hair are before he was shaved to treat his injuries. Thank you ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes. Each dog comes spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice. The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption. They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
