Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Meet our sweet Miracle Dog, Luigi. First adopted years ago from FDR, he is now back with us and searching for the loving and understanding home he needs for his golden years. This sweet boy is differently abled from a long ago injury, and while he has limited use of his back legs, he gets around quite well! He is just about the sweetest most easy-going boy you will ever meet. Luigi is about 1o years old and does GREAT with other dogs. He's lived with females, males, and even puppies! He is extremely tolerant and really enjoys the company. Luigi also LOVES people. He is gentle and kind. He approaches you with soulful eyes just asking for love and understanding. Since he is partly paralyzed he is not jumpy and does really well with children (and even cats). Luigi could thrive in most home environments. He does not require tons of exercise and does not mind being home alone while you work. Our main requirement is a home without many stairs or with an elevator. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
