Posted Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: 325. ____________________________________________________________ Debbie Keith Coordinator Chopper is an almost 6 yr old male who is currently in NY state. He came into rescue due to life changes and no fault of his own. He absolutely loves people and is extremely affectionate and cuddly. Absolutely loves to play with people and games like fetch and tug are fun. He behaves on leash and seems to ignore wildlife on walks. He does have mild separation anxiety but will settle after singing the song of his people. He was spoiled before coming into rescue and will need an experienced home who will build his confidence while also enforcing boundaries for him to thrive. He will not be placed with children and would do best with a calmer dog in the house and not a multi dog home as he reacts to excitement. We believe with training that should improve but not at this time. Chopper is UTD on vaccinations and is neutered, housebroken and crate trained. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
