Posted Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. ____________________________________________________________ Jeanine Daugherty Dave is a 9 year old, neutered, male Belgian Malinois who is looking for his forever home. Dave’s owner adopted Dave as a puppy from the American Belgian Malinois Rescue. When she became terminally ill she could no longer care for Dave. He is house trained, obedient, and loves being active. Don’t let his age fool you, Malinois are known for being active well into their upper years. An active home with no children under 14 years of age is required. Dave is good with other dogs and has been going to Downtown Doggie in Indianapolis since he was a puppy. Dave would do best as an only dog or in a home with experience in having multiple dogs. Dave has been exposed to cats and has shown some interest, so he will not be placed with cats. Dave has had some obedience training, he competed in Fastcat, AKC agility, rally and fly ball with his owner. Requirements: Private lessons though Downtown Doggie Signed adoption contract No children under 14 years of age No cats Remain in contact with Downtown Doggie after adoption Six foot, fenced yard, no invisible fencing Must have a home visit prior to adoption Must do a meet and greet prior to adoption For more information call 317-979-2665 and ask for Heather ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
