If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. Hi, I'm Louie, a very playful pup rescued from a shelter when my time was almost up. I was adopted but proved to be too much for the family who adopted me. I'm good with other dogs and cats too. I'm full of puppy energy and would benefit from another dog in the home to play with and an active family that is going to be able to give me the attention I need. I'm friendly, love going for walks and playing fetch. I need work on my chewing and digging, but I probably did that out of boredom. I was too much for the smaller children in the home, so I'd do best in a home with older bigger children. I know I'm cute and everyone will want me, but please be sure you're ready to take on a puppy as it's similar to having a newborn (2-legged kind) in the home. It's a lifetime commitment, not a temporary one where the love and attention wears off after I'm grown. If you're ready and able to give me a lifetime of love and wonderful memories, please fill out an application to meet me.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
