Posted Breed: . Meet Almond Joy! She is an F1 Standard Bernedoodle. Her mother, Betsy, is an outgoing, social, and expressive Bernese Mountain Dog weighing 90 lbs. Her father, Boone, is a gentle and affectionate standard-sized Poodle weighing 65 lbs. Almond Joy has been born and raised in our home and has received much love and care. She is vet-checked, up to date on her vaccines, and has a one-year genetic health guarantee. Starting at 4 weeks old, we began litter box training her using pelletized pellets/shavings for small animals. Although she will need additional training in her new environment, she already has an understanding of where is the correct place to "go". We will send her home with a bag full of goodies which will include a 4 lb. bag of puppy food, training treats, a toy, and a blanket that smells like home. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
