We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Chester is up to date on vaccines for his age. Due to age and the emaciated condition he was in when he arrived, he is not neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract which requires you to neuter him at your expense at around 1 year old. Because Chester was starved as a puppy, we think he needs a full year of growth hormones to reach his full potential. Chester is a very young puppy. He is not house trained but he is crate trained. He will need patience and proper training to learn all the skills a young dog needs to grow up to be wonderful. Weight: 25 lbs - Chester is underweight for his age. We are working to put weight on him. We estimate he will be between 35 lbs when full grown. This is just a guess. Height: 18 in and growing - We estimate Chester will be around 20" at the shoulder when full grown. We believe he will become what is recognized in Europe as the moyen size poodle. Spayed/Neutered: No Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Chester requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Chester requires a home with another active dog for socialization and play. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. He is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training. Chester has lived with other dogs and children. He is great with everyone. Poodle puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Poodle puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Poodle puppies are very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a poodle puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well, it is important to note that poodles can have a high prey drive. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! This pup has not had contact with cats that we know of and will not have contact while with their current foster. What is my personality like? Chester has been raised in a breeding home. He's known life with other dogs, and has been loved by teenage children, but he's never lived in the house or been someone's companion. Everything you teach him will be new. Chester has a wonderful demeanor true to his breed. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Chester is a puppy who is happy to meet everybody. He is quick to give kisses, will jump up on you and loves being petted, getting ear rubs, belly rubs, chin scratches kisses and any other loving you can provide him. Other tips and tidbits: We were told that Chester's birthday is 8/9/2023. This seems about right based on his teeth and his behavior. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
