Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Hi there, my name is Isabella. I was relinquished to Olive Branch with 13 other dogs when our owner passed and there was no one to take care of us. I'm a really good all-around family dog- I like to run and play- but I also enjoy quiet time with lots of snuggles, too. I seem to get along well with most dogs- a meet and greet with any dogs in your home would be great. I like to "boss" the cats and tend to be pretty vocal about it, so a home without cats would be best for me. Gentle, older, dog savvy children would be great. I have been spayed, vaccinated, combo tested (I did test positive for Lyme Disease and have completed a 30-day cycle of doxycycline treatment), and my preventives are current. If interested in making me a part of your family, please fill out the adoption application here: olivebranchwv. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. Love, Isabella

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
