Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (long coat). Please contact Isabell (pawparentgmail) for more information about this pet. Tazz came from the Palmdale shelter where he was brought in as a stray. He was not available to the general public due to his extreme fear of people. He would have not made it out alive if Paw Parent wouldn't have rescued him. He was more or less immediately in love with one of our helpers, but very afraid of all of us others. It took a long time before he allowed the rest of us to pet him. But once he trusted us his sweet, cute and gentle self started to shine. He is very affectionate and loves belly rubs. He's great with all the dogs he is with and turned out the be a happy go luck y little guy. But he is still very suspicious of strangers and needs time to warm up and trust. Anyone interested in him needs to move very slowly to gain his trust. Believe me though once you got it you won't regret it! He weighs about 13 pounds and his age is guessed at 4 years. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Please call 661-724-0642 or email us at pawparentgmail if you would like to meet him.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
