Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $350. Muffin is an adorable little scruffy girl who was rescued from a hoarding situation. She is sweet and gentle but is very cautious with people. Muffin loves being with other dogs and is good with cats too.. She is learning how to be part of a family and her fur buddies are showing her the ropes. She will do best in a home with another confident dog to help continue to build her confidence. Muffin is doing a great job with house training and crate training. A quiet adult home will be best as the noise and activity of children make her nervous. A fenced yard is required. Muffin is 4 years old and 20 lbs. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
